We got together with our friend and partner Frans Ditmer, Chief Commercial Officer at Fixico to pick his brain about what problems they are solving and how joint partnerships are transforming the industry, here's what he had to say
Who are Fixico, and what problem do they solve?
Fixico is a repair management platform and marketplace for fleet management companies, insurers, OEMs and repairers. Our aim is to reshape the car repair industry by creating a smarter, connected, and more efficient ecosystem for after-sales servicing. We bring demand and supply together in the most optimal way for all parties involved by streamlining the interaction between car owners, fleet managers, and repair shops to provide transparency, control and a convenient user experience through our digital solution, aided by artificial intelligence.
We started in 2014 in the Netherlands and since then have grown rapidly. We are now present in 11 countries across Europe, as well as in South Africa. We have partnerships with more than 250 leading fleet management companies and over 3,000 repairers.
What are the key benefits to Fixico's solution?
Our mission is to shape the future of car repair, meaning we want to transition a traditional off-line industry with manual non-value adding practices, into a modern digital process, tackling issues like fragmentation, lack of transparency, and the inefficiencies of traditional repair services. Our platform allows users to actively manage all sides of the total costs of repairs: direct repair costs, repair handling costs, and vehicle off-road time costs. Lastly, by digitising the repair process, Fixico reduces administrative overhead, speeds up service delivery, and improves customer satisfaction.
How did Xtract and Fixico's partnership come together?
Recognising the interest from insurance companies and last-mile delivery fleets in managing both claims and repairs, we looked for a strong partner in the claims handling side. Partnering up with Xtract we’re not just speeding up repairs—we're transforming the entire experience, by facilitating the management of the entire journey from the moment an accident occurs up to the moment a fully repaired vehicle is returned to a driver or fleet.
Why do you think it's important for companies like Xtract and Fixico to offer a joint solution?
This collaboration highlights our shared ambition and commitment to transforming the automotive sector through smart technology and our common goal to leverage innovation for a better service. However, to qualify for a suitable partnership we need to consider that both solutions should be relevant and complementary to each other. In addition, we both should have customers that can benefit from a joint solution. And finally, most importantly, there should be a cultural match between both organisations. In this case between Xtract and Fixico, this certainly is a great match, and is what makes this partnership a natural fit.

How do you see new technology changing the digital repair management landscape, does it excite you to see what the future will look like?
AI is bringing smarter automation, from assessing damages with pinpoint accuracy to optimising repair workflows - it isn’t just changing the game; it’s making it more exciting by enabling proactive, personalised and predictive repair solutions. At Fixico, our basis has been technology from the very start. In this changing mobility landscape, with the transition to electric vehicles that are more costly and more complex to repair, working in the traditional way is a dead end. Using telematics, AI and platforms that connect all parties involved in the automotive after-sales and insurance industry, is in our vision, the only viable way to optimise the efficiency and customer experience.
How do partner relations contribute to providing the best possible, most seamless integrated solutions?
At Fixico, we envision a future where car repair is not just efficient but also smartly connected and focused on sustainable practices. A few years from now, companies will be connected with each other and to digital platforms to find the best repair for every individual damage or service job, with just a click of a button. Partnering with Xtract, we're optimising real-time data to streamline every step from incident to repair.
This means less downtime, more efficiency and a greener approach as EVs push us towards more sustainable practices. To enable this, repair shops and service providers should specialise in what they do best: EV repairs for certain brands, repairing damages instead of replacing them, full reconditioning, etc. Finally, the future will be electric and vehicle servicing will have to optimise its CO2 footprint for the way they do their business. And Fixico wants to be at the forefront of these developments, working with partners like Xtract, together, we’re driving towards a connected, specialised, and environmentally conscious repair industry.
